New FOI Action Initiated
Following the successful acquisition of the FOI disclosures on 27 January 2025 — and their subsequent publication by Leigh Day Solicitors on 24 April — which exposed Greater Manchester Police’s use of predictive bias and disproportionate tactics against Traveller communities, a new legal action has now begun to uncover inter-agency correspondence and risk briefings linked to the Manchester Christmas Market operation on 23 November 2024.
Public Interest Imperative
“Transparency must exist not only within the police force, but also between the police and all public agencies involved in decisions affecting the public.” – James Stuart
Filed FOI Requests
- FOI #1: Human Rights Structured Document and Safeguarding Protocols
- FOI #2: Inter-Agency Communications and Briefings
These requests form the second wave in a continuing legal transparency effort led by James Stuart. The public has a right to know whether GMP acted in accordance with safeguarding law, and whether any other public bodies participated in — or failed to stop — disproportionate action against children and ethnic communities.
Statement from the Author
“Let it be known that the Crown, even when disregarded by its modern custodians, still watches over its people. I filed these requests in the name of accountability, justice, and memory — for the children affected, and for the laws we hold sacred.”
